For quite a few years now Trucking Companies have realized the value of women
in their work force and behind the wheel of their big rigs. Until
recent years however, women themselves have not thought of long or
short haul truck driving jobs as a viable career choice. Today there
are about 200,000 female long haul truck drivers in America. The ATA
estimates about 5% of OTR drivers are female. |

Jobs includes pulling dry van, flatbed, drop
deck, moving van, bull wagon (livestock), refrigerated, car hauling, step deck,
doubles, triples, etc.; there is a long list of trailers and variety of
freight from which to choose.
Most women choose dry
van or refrigerated due to the fact that most dry van and refer companies offer no
touch freight. Not to infer that women can't handle loading and
unloading, some can, but due to the requirement that drivers must be
able to lift 50 to 100 lbs (by a great number of
carriers), many women lack that kind of physical strength. There could be a
strength test everyone must pass to get hired by a majority of
companies so keep that in mind
in making your decision. |

Qualifying for most US
carriers who require a Class A CDL is a concern for truck drivers
who have had one or two problems in their past. A Felony, DUI or too
many moving violations can be a big problem. Tickets will fall off
the radar in three years but the Felony
might be an
issue the rest of one's life and it takes 5 years for a driving
intoxicated or high on a drug offense to drop off an employer's
radar screen. Some trucking companies require an illegal driving
offense to be 10 yrs old. The good news is certain felonies and
misdemeanors can be

Performs repairs, modifications and preventative maintenance on
building and facilities, equipment, fixtures and systems at our
Rock Springs, WY location. Duties may be electrical, welding,
sheet metal, carpentry, or mechanical. Conducts preventive
